Former Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Shad Gaspard remains at large in the sea where he disappeared after a tide pulled him in at the Venice Beach, in California. As fears mount about his life, his family has put out a statement thanking fans and well-wishers.
His fellow wrestlers took up the opportunity to share the 39-year-old’s family’s statement in which they requested for privacy in these troubling times. “@Shadbeast's family appreciates all the love, support, and concern through this horrible ordeal.
At this time, they are not ready to make any public or official statements to any media outlet and ask all to respect their wishes,” said a tweet made by wrestler Lance Archer. Meanwhile, in a separate statement to the media outlet PEOPLE, Gaspard’s family said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the first responders who rescued Aryeh and to the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their continued efforts to help find our beloved Shad.
Shad is a fighter, a warrior and a magical soul. We are hoping and praying for his safe return. As a family we thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Please continue to keep sending your positivity and prayers to our beloved Shad”.
Gaspard and his 10-year-old son were both caught by riptides. Gaspard’s son was rescued but before the former wrestler could be rescued a huge wave reportedly crashed into him and submerged him, leaving the authorities unable to save him. During his time at the WWE, Gaspard was a part of the famous Tag Team Cryme Tyme with JTG.
