Interviewed by BT Sport, the current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre reminisced about a great anecdote. Apparently Vince McMahon had originally thought of a match between him and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26, in 2010, to then completely quash the plan.
Here are his statements: "When I was 24 Vince took me aside and told me that I shouldn't listen to anyone, only Undertaker and that he would be my mentor. The big plan was to have me match him at WrestleMania, in 2010, but honestly, I was not ready for such a stage."
Drew McIntyre Talks of Plans Changing for WrestleMania 26
"In the end, the plans jumped and Taker worked with Shawn, creating a phenomenal match. I could never have reached those levels, so thinking about it now I'm happy with the choice," Drew added.
"It's been a while since then and last year I had the opportunity to work with Taker in the Tag Team Match at Extreme Rules, where Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns were also present. The goal was to redeem him from the bad performance against Goldberg and he was happy with the result.
I remember meeting him backstage and telling him about the famous match that was promised me 10 years ago, and he smiled." Finally, McIntyre said, "I have a list of things I have wanted to do since I returned to WWE.
Now that I have won the title, I would like to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania one day." We will see if WWE decides to organize this meeting between before the final retirement of The Undertaker which, as assumed during the documentary, "The Last Ride", would mark the end of one of the greatest runs in the world of wrestling.
