Brock Lesnar could return to WWE before SummerSlam

Both insiders and fans of the world of wrestling are waiting to know the date of Brock Lesnar's return to the ring. According to some rumors, reported by people very close to WWE, the wrestler will return for SummerSlam and the greatest PPV of the summer will have The Beast Incarnate again.

Recent rumors speculate about a sensational defeat of Drew McIntyre at Backlash and consequently a new WWE Champion. According to Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue from WWE's top floors, the main goal is to match the plans to see a dream match between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley.

So this could be the SummerSlam Main Event, a meeting that people have been waiting for almost many years.

Spoiler on Brock Lesnar's return

The latest rumors about Backlash do indeed provide for a new WWE champion, but Tom recalls that a match like Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar makes noise even without a title.

Here are some of his statements about it: "At the WWE summit they desperately need to see this match and Brock Lesnar has already been registered for his appearance for SummerSlam, so we will almost certainly have this challenge.

On the title issue we need to understand the intentions of WWE on Drew McIntyre: the current champion should in fact almost certainly ask for a rematch in case of defeat even if in the federation there is talk of a McIntyre protagonist in the PPV of the summer in a meeting with The Undertaker, in the Deadman's last WWE match.

The next few months will be crucial and we will really see some good things about the future of the title in the federation of Stamford. Recently Bobby Lashley himself, on TalkSports microphones, spoke of a possible challenge against Brock Lesnar.

Lashley said, "I don't know the reasons why Brock and I never faced each other, but it is clear that it would be a great challenge. Sooner or later we will see this clash, certainly before we both get too old. A meeting like this would be very exciting for me.

I want to dethrone Drew McIntyre first and then I will think about a possible meeting with The Beast Incarnate." SummerSlam was originally scheduled to take place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, but Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced the suspension of all large-scale gatherings and that no permit would be issued for an event that could draw a large crowd before September 7.

WWE has yet to officially respond. The show will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

Results are predetermined by WWE's writers on the Raw and SmackDown brands, while storylines are produced on WWE's weekly television shows, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.
