After the announcement at the beginning of the episode, where Dolph Ziggler went sensationally to challenge the Scottish WWE absolute champion, Drew McIntyre, the time for challenges has also come for the champion Asuka, with a champion on the Smackdown roster, who went as well sensationally to challenge the Japanese for her title of Raw Women's Champion, in the episode of the red show aired tonight.
Openly challenging Asuka for the title to Extreme Rules, was in fact Sasha Banks, the current WWE tag team champion together with her friend Bayley (who theoretically should still be part of the blue roster anyway), who after having closed one more Once the IIconics practice, which they had challenged during a titled match during Raw, decided to dedicate themselves completely to a new challenge with the Japanese.
After winning her match as a couple with the WWE tag team titles up for grabs, Sasha Banks let her friend Bayley know that she is jealous of the fact that she has two belts while she only has one, so in general amazement, Sasha has challenged Asuka to a match at Extreme Rules with the laurel currently at the sides of the Japanese at stake, with the possibility that The Boss will also be able to reach her friend "Bayley Two belts", in a storyline that always sees her more to the irons.
Asuka vs. Sasha Banks set for Extreme Rules
After the launch of this challenge, Asuka appeared on-screen and accepted willingly the challenge launched by the Banks, thus making official their match titled for next July 19th, at Extreme Rules.
After seeing plans for Sasha Banks and Bayley drastically changed in the past few months, it is very likely that WWE will set the final showdown between the two girls in Summerslam, in a storyline that will end up seeing the two friends go to war until once again become enemies for the skin, as already happened at NXT in different contexts and situations.
Also on tonight's Raw, Asuka submitted Charlotte Flair with the Asuka Lock to retain her title. Charlotte had brawled with Nia Jax earlier in the show and was attacked by Jax in a backstage segment later in the episode after unsuccessfully challenging for Asuka's title.
Extreme Rules was originally scheduled to be held at the SAP Center in San Jose, California; however, the Santa Clara County government restricted public gatherings indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it is possible the restriction will be lifted by then, it is unlikely that Extreme Rules will take place in San Jose.
