Reasons why Roman Reigns is facing Jey Uso at Clash of Champions

In the last few weeks after surprisingly returning to Friday Night Smackdown, the new Heel of the Roman Reigns federation is back in WWE and immediately took the title of Universal Champion in Payback's Pay Per View where he beat Bray Wyatt The Fiend and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat Match.

The choice of the first challenger for the title of Reigns in Clash of Champions, which will be Jey Uso, has left the experts particularly surprised. Roman Reigns and Jey Uso are cousins and have known each other since they were children, their history is well known to everyone in WWE and this clash could solidify Reigns' run in WWE as Heel.

However, many people wonder what was the real reason why WWE chose Jey Uso as their first challenger.

Jey Uso and Roman Reigns prepare to face-off in the ring

During the Dropkick DiSKussions podcast Tom Colohue talked about this situation with Korey Gunz and Roman Reigns was a key factor in getting his cousin Jey Uso to get this world chance.

Tom Colohue revealed that WWE, when champions are not involved in Angle of prime importance, WWE grants them the ability to choose their opponents. The same situation happened to Drew McIntyre who had chosen Jinder Mahal as an opponent, but this feud was later canceled due to a particular injury to the latter.

Here are the words of Tom Colohue: "I think Roman Reigns has strongly influenced this choice. When the champions are not in the midst of great feuds they can choose opponents and WWE has granted this choice to Roman Reigns as well.

It has happened in the past with Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal and I'm sure this stunt happened during the Pandemic during the talks where WWE convinced him to return the wrestler. I think it was a strength that WWE leveraged to convince him to return to the Main roster."

Roman Reigns has been out for some time due to the pandemic but his return is proving to be a big blow to the Stamford-located federation. First, Roman Reigns completely destroys Jey Uso inside the ring without paying any attention to the cousin factor.

This will be an ode to his character turning heel. Of course, this is the most predictable ending. How Reigns will win is another story altogether. Secondly, Jey Uso wins the Championship title which moves the cousin vs cousin storyline forward.

The reason being that if Uso wins, the ‘Big Dog’ will definitely look for another match to win the title back. If this happens, his character might turn towards the darker side which will draw out the ultimate heel in him.
