Chris Jericho is a popular AEW Star and he recently spoke about the birth of All Elite Wrestling. Jericho is best known for his work in WWE. Jericho was the first ever WWE Undisputed Champion. Not many people thought that he would sign with All Elite Wrestling.

In fact, he was one of the only big stars that appeared at AEW’s launch event.

On a special episode of his podcast, he spoke about the birth of All Elite Wrestling. He revealed that Tony Khan, current AEW CEO and President, thought about opening his own wrestling company after he saw Kenny Omega vs Jericho.

At NJPW. The match between Jericho and Omega generated interest worldwide. "That made Tony Khan go, 'Holy smokes, I think I can start my own wrestling company' because my match with Omega at Tokyo Dome did such good business worldwide," said Jericho.

AEW’s creation was officially announced on the 1st of January, 2019. The announcement was made during an episode of Being The Elite. They also mentioned AEW Double or Nothing. Double or Nothing was going to be a sequel to All-In which was the largest indie wrestling show in the world.

"Right now [is the proudest moment of my career]. To have AEW built up, and the stuff we've done in just a year, just makes me feel incredibly proud," he said. Jericho revealed that he would have retired from professional wrestling if AEW hadn’t sent him an offer.

"There was a certain time in 2015 [in WWE] when I just did house shows. I was not on TV. And then the feud with Kevin Owens really reinvigorated me, and then the match with Kenny in Japan made me go, 'Oh my god, this is wrestling.'

I would have probably quit wrestling if not for AEW, and now I have no plans to stop," said Jericho. Chris Jericho is still one of AEW’s biggest stars. He was also the promotion’s first ever ever World Champion.

He won the title after defeating Adam Page for it during an AEW PPV event. Jericho lost the title to Jon Moxley several months ago. However, Jericho has reinvented himself in AEW and has used his contacts to bring numerous stars to AEW, including Matt Hardy, Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose) and Brodie Lee (Luke Harper).
