The 2020 Survivor Series opened with a bang right from the kick-off, which in a sense honored the show's 30th-anniversary theme. Not only, however, as regards the Undertaker but also for the other "luxury" rookie from that distant 1990.
We are talking about Gobbledy Gooker. The huge turkey that 30 years ago sparked the loud protests of the public at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford (Connecticut), over the years has become a nice catchphrase among WWE fans and beyond.
So much so that when it was revived in more recent times it has always been received in a variously festive (although ironic) way. And so it was also at the Survivor Series 2020 when he was also able to enter the list of winners of the 24/7 Championship, snatching him from R-Truth in an exhilarating moment during the kick-off.
During the same evening, he then lost the belt to Akira Tozawa, who in turn then sold it to the usual R-Truth. The curiosity that emerged in these hours, however, concerned the identity of the chanterelle himself, who obviously could not be impersonated by his original interpreter.
At the time it was in fact Héctor Guerrero, older brother of the unforgettable Eddie, who is now 66 years old. And what was discovered from behind the scenes of the Amway Center in Orlando instead leads to a Superstar today, which R-Truth knows very well.
Drew Gulak plays The Gobbledy Gooker
It is in fact Drew Gulak, who according to what was discovered by 'PWInsider' has lent himself to dress for a night the role of the ominous Gobbledy Gooker. It must be remembered that the 33-year-old former "master of PowerPoint presentations" and already an ally and "mentor" of Daniel Bryan is himself a multi-champion when it comes to 24/7 Title.
He was in fact able to conquer it six times between the month of September and this November. Each of his reigns lasted a few minutes, except for the fourth which lasted "well" a week. Obviously, this further conquest will not go to enrich his collection of trophies, given that WWE has already confirmed clearly and without possible misunderstandings that at the Survivor Series he won "The Gobbledy Gooker", and not Drew Gulak disguised as Gobbledy Gooker to dupe his rival.
As noted, R-Truth appeared during last night's WWE Survivor Series Kickoff pre-show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Gobbledy Gooker, originally portrayed by Hector Guerrero at the 1990 Survivor Series event. Truth brought The Gooker out to the Kickoff panel but was also confronted by Akira Tozawa and his ninja referee.
This led to Gooker pinning Truth for the title and running away with Tozawa and Truth in pursuit. The Gulak Gooker later appeared in a backstage segment during the Survivor Series pay-per-view to drop the title to Tozawa, for his 7th reign. Tozawa immediately dropped the title back to R-Truth, who is now in his 45th reign with the WWE 24/7 Title.
