In the latest episode of Friday Night Smackdown, the Samoan family formed by reigning Universal champion Roman Reigns and younger cousin Jey Uso, once again attacked blue show Canadian Kevin Owens, ending the show with the Prizefighter who flew from the top of the ThunderDome to atop tables at the base of the screens that project connected WWE Universe fans from home into the arena.
After losing both the titled chances that the WWE management had granted to the Canadian, Owens did not give up anyway and during the whole episode of the blue show, he tried to get his hands on the smallest cousin of the Anoa'i family, also clamoring for a match against him from Owens' longtime friend, Adam Pearce.
Eventually, that match came and saw Owens triumph over Jimmy's twin, who was eventually beaten up while he was handcuffed to a ring rope, as revenge for what happened the week before when Jey had used him. same method to make the cousin win in the titled match in the Steel Cage.
What’s next for Kevin Owens?
With a brief official statement, yesterday the WWE wanted to communicate the health conditions of the Canadian fighter, who obviously suffered an injury only in a kayfabe key and not in reality.
With this article, WWE has therefore made it clear that Owens will most likely miss the next episodes of the blue show or even if he is present, he will certainly not be 100%: "After the attack at the hands of Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Jey Uso at Friday Night Smackdown, Kevin Owens was taken to the local emergency room where he was diagnosed with a spinal contusion and a kidney contusion."
Recall that the exact same injury was also given to Daniel Bryan, after Jey Uso always attacked him at the beginning of his storyline with Roman Reigns, in the ring of the blue show. Kevin Owens unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the TLC pay-per-view in December.
He also lost another title match against The Tribal Chief inside a steel cage on the Christmas Day episode of SmackDown. It is unclear if Kevin Owens will receive another opportunity at Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship.
However, it is worth noting that Reigns is without an opponent for the Royal Rumble and he is not currently feuding with any other Superstars. Owens proved that he's a top guy during his feud with Roman Reigns. It will be interesting to see what plans WWE have for him as we head into WrestleMania season.
