Goldberg is certainly one of the legends of WWE history, but in recent years we have seen him revived in flashes with sudden returns and stops during his adventure in the company of Vince McMahon. Almost a year has passed since his last appearance in the ring in WWE with Goldberg starring at Wrestlemania 36 against Braun Strowman with the latter winning clearly and thus taking the title of WWE Universal Champion.
Initially, however, the plans of Vince McMahon and the federation were not to be these with Goldberg's initial opponent who was to be Roman Reigns. However, the current Tribal Chief of the company was held back by the Pandemic and the fear of being exposed to Covid-19.
Since that day the situation has totally changed, Roman Reigns has won the title now and is the dominant man of the company alongside him the Mad Genius Paul Heyman and his cousin Jey Uso. During the last episode of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this year at WrestleMania 37 there could finally be the match valid for the WWE Universal Champion title between Roman Reigns and Goldberg.
The reason why Goldberg could be facing Roman Reigns
Da Man has not been in the WWE rings since that match at Wrestlemania 36 but there is a lot of curiosity and there are excellent chances of his eventual return. Here are the words about it from Dave Meltzer: "Right now one of the eligible matches for WrestleMania 37 is the match between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.
On the one hand, this gives WWE the opportunity to see a match between two great wrestlers but in case this jumps, the other opportunity is regarding Roman Reigns' opponent is a match against Goldberg. These would certainly give more emphasis and curiosity around the match but it would be the umpteenth choice made to satisfy only the listening question and to remedy any difficulty regarding this section."
All this will obviously depend on what Roman Reigns will do until Wrestlemania with the WWE Universal Champion who will have to keep his title from the attacks of the opponents. They also suggest that if Goldberg does not face The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania, it will most likely be Daniel Bryan who will go one on one against the Universal Champion.
Last year, the buildup for Reigns vs. Goldberg was constructed around their similar moves and careers. Both men have been projected as powerhouses and have a record of dismantling their opponents in short periods of time.
