The last episode of Monday Night Raw that aired in the night once again saw Drew Mcintyre, current WWE Champion in charge and his challenger, the mammoth Keith Lee, who had managed to become No. 1 contender to the belt at the moment against the Scotsman and who had therefore deserved a title match in the first episode of the company's red show, the one dedicated to the Legends of the federation.
Obviously, the match valid for the WWE Championship was inserted by the WWE in the main event of the evening, also considering what the executives had in mind for the post-match, where a sensational challenge came against the champion, in view of the first Big Four of the new year, the Royal Rumble.
Drew McIntyre defeated Keith Lee in an impressive showcase
After a hard-fought match, defending champion Drew McIntyre got the better of him, who after having even destroyed Raw's comment table by making a Powerbomb to his opponent, managed to cleverly pin Keith Lee with his Claymore Kick, after several unsuccessful attempts, thus closing the challenging chapter.
But what the fans and the champion himself did not expect is that out of the blue a new challenge would immediately arrive, titled to McIntyre, who was literally taken aback, when none other than Bill Goldberg arrived to make his entry into the ThunderDome.
, which wasn't even advertised for the event. After reaching the ring, Goldberg in fact challenged Drew McIntyre for a match titled at the Royal Rumble, with the Scotsman who initially refused the contest as he now thinks it would be like having a match against his father.
Faced with these words, a rather agitated Goldberg pushed McIntyre making him fall and sanctioning a challenge that apparently will be the one that will lead to the main event of the Royal Rumble, in just a few weeks, between Da Man and the champion of Wrestlemania 36, who already beat WWE Beast Brock Lesnar.
As a matter of fact, McIntyre even had a friendly backstage segment with Hulk Hogan on this very episode. Perhaps Goldberg's statements were meant to establish the veteran as a heel, but his argument still came across as a forced distortion of past events.
Goldberg revealed that McIntyre's lack of respect against legends is why he was laying down a challenge against the WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble event. The show ended when Goldberg shoved down Drew McIntyre after the latter star said that wrestling the veteran would be like fighting his own father.
