Chris Masters on Vince McMahon replacing top Superstar

In November 2005, Eddie Guerrero passed away at the age of 38 due to acute heart failure. Four months later, the Mexican-born wrestler was supposed to face Shawn Michaels in one of WrestleMania 22's highlight matches. Vince McMahon ended up competing with HBK in a 'No Holds Barred match' at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Michaels prevailed at the end of a challenge that lasted 18 minutes. In a lengthy exclusive interview granted to Sportskeeda, former WWE star Chris Masters said Rey Mysterio would likely win the 2006 Royal Rumble even if Eddie was still alive.

Shawn Michaels vs. Vince McMahon

“According to the original plans, Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon were not supposed to face off at WrestleMania. The expected match was that between Shawn and Eddie Guerrero, who was replaced by Vince.

In any case, I believe Rey Mysterio would still have been the winner of the Royal Rumble, regardless of Eddie's tragic death. Personally, I was happy to have taken part in that Royal Rumble, even though it lasted seven minutes.

I was just back from the Elimination Chamber match, so I had to pinch myself to realize that this was all happening to me. Sometimes it all goes so quickly that you don't even notice it too much," said Chris Masters.

Chris later revealed that he has always enjoyed working with giants. “Big Show is exceptional, just to name an example. I've always been impressed with how it moved. I don't know if he really gets the right credit for this.

We are talking about a very athletic type, especially about height and size. I also loved working with Kane, who is a wonderful person. I heard him talk about politics long before he became mayor and I immediately realized that he was a really smart guy.

I am not surprised that he has reached such an important position." Speaking to Dr. Chris Featherstone on SK Wrestling’s Inside SKoop, Chris Masters said Big Show could move very well for somebody his size. “Awesome.

They’re just awesome big men. What more can you ask for out of two big guys? Big Show is… when I worked him, I would just marvel at the way he moves for such a big guy. I don’t know if he always gets the credit he deserves for that.

He’s an athletic dude, especially for his height and size”. The man behind the Kane character, Glenn Jacobs, became the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee in August 2018. Chris Masters had nothing but good things to say about the former WWE Champion.

“I’ve always liked Kane as a person. I’ve liked hearing him talk about politics before he was ever the mayor and hearing his views and he’s just an intelligent guy and he’s very, you know, he stays on top of things. It doesn’t surprise me that he’s doing what he’s doing now”.
