Finn Balor recently fought Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day and he spoke about who he believes is going to be his next challenger. Finn Balor is a former WWE main roster star and was the first-ever WWE Universal Champion.
Balor was sent to NXT to help NXT beat AEW Dynamite. Finn Balor currently carries the NXT Title. He has carried the title for a very long time and has beaten every single opponent since winning the title quite easily and cleanly.
Finn Balor on His Next Challenger
Finn Balor was on the After The Bell podcast where he spoke about his next challenger. He stated that NXT’s top superstars are probably going to now compete for a title shot. He also spoke about the Undisputed Era possibly ending at the very end of the show, as Adam Cole superkicked Balor and Kyle O’ Reilly.
“You could go to the usual suspects,” Balor said. “Kyle is standing out, Adam Cole is standing out, Karrion Kross is standing out, someone in NXT is Noah who I feel is standing out and has a huge future ahead of him.
We were all left a little confused as to how TakeOver went off the air, that’s something we’ve got to expect. Being in a unit or group or club in the past, there’s always those internal struggles, if they're in front of the camera or behind the camera.
I feel like those guys are going through that right now so they’ve got to figure that out by themselves”. “Whether they stay together or whether they move on is kind of going back to what I was saying about my career in Europe and Japan, they’ve got to choose the right time to do that for them.
If it’s now and they split, we’ll see it on NXT. If they feel it’s the right time to stay together and keep pushing forward I’m sure that’s what they’ll do too”. Balor then spoke about his first run and his current NXT run.
He left NXT in 2015 to join the main roster. He returned to NXT in 2019. He stated that NXT now has a completely different landscape and the stars are quite talented. “What’s different is in the past it was very much like us against the world, we are NXT and we are trying to prove ourselves together against the world,” Finn Balor mentioned.
“Now feels like everyone is very much their own individual, everyone is there to prove themselves and it’s competitive. It wasn’t as competitive as it was in the past. It was competitive against everyone else but as a group now it’s individually competitive.
I know I’m the champion and I know everyone wants to challenge me. In the past, that wasn’t necessarily the case, it was like Finn’s the champ but we’re all working towards the same goal. Now I know everyone's looking at me saying I want to be the champ.
That’s the real difference in the mindset. It’s gone from being a team group to being very much an individual goal for someone to be the champ or be the best and prove themselves”.
