John Cena has been the iconic face of WWE for over 15 years, having made his debut with the Stamford company way back in 2002. The 16-time world champion has stopped being a full-time superstar since 2017, having decided to pursue a brilliant career in Hollywood which has earned him numerous contracts and awards.

To the disappointment of the fans, the leader of the 'Cenation' will not even take part in the most anticipated event on the calendar, WrestleMania 37, which will take place over two evenings with the presence of a slice of spectators.

In the latest edition of the 'It's Our House' podcast, former WCW President Eric Bischoff was asked to name an athlete who can transcend business and become a symbol like Cena.

John Cena and Cody Rhodes have both ventured outside of wrestling

“When we talk about a wrestler who has the potential to transcend the business, I think we are referring to a special superstar, capable of breaking out of the rigid canons of the wrestling world.

So John Cena became a symbol, because he was a recognizable face in any context, even outside of the WWE. Vince McMahon's federation got in touch with people who didn't care about wrestling by taking advantage of John Cena's skills because he was able to transcend the business like no other.

I think Cody Rhodes has the same potential ”- explained Bischoff. Rhodes, who served in WWE between 2006 and 2016, became the executive vice president of the newly formed AEW, establishing himself as one of the best talents around.

Just like Cena, Cody has also made himself the author of multiple television appearances outside his business. The AEW star was featured in several episodes of 'Arrow' between 2016 and 2018, as well as having distinguished himself as a judge on the 'Go-Big Show'

It is not difficult to find similarities between these two champions, which extends to their importance for their respective federations. John Cena stopped working full-time as an in-ring competitor in 2017. The 16-time WWE World Champion has appeared in many movies in recent years, including "Bumblebee" and "Blockers." He recently confirmed that he will not be present at WrestleMania 37 due to his filming commitments.

Based on their blossoming acting careers, it's easy to see the comparisons between John Cena and Cody Rhodes. This similarity also applies to their prominence with their respective companies, as Rhodes is the face of AEW. What do you think of Eric Bischoff's comments?
