Shawn Michaels Reveals That He Regrets Coming Out Of Retirement

Shawn Michaels recently revealed while talking to The New York Post that he regrets coming out of retirement to fight at Crown Jewel. Shawn Michaels is still regarded as one of the greatest WWE legends of all time, and many people were happy to see him return.

However, his return was far from a great one as many mistakes were made during his return match at Crown Jewel. The New York Post asked him whether or not he has any regrets about coming out of retirement.

“I do,”.

“I had no idea that from Mark’s (Undertaker’s) standpoint he was looking at it as that might be the one he could walk away on”. Shawn also commented on The Undertaker’s comments inside The Last Ride documentary.

Shawn stated that The Undertaker actually wished to retire after the match, only if the match went the right way which it did not. Shawn Michaels in previous interviews stated that he did not have any regrets about returning to the ring at the Crown Jewel event.

However, it appears that the reason why he has regrets right now is that he has taken the time to access and rewatch the tape multiple times. It was indeed a match full of botches. During the match, Triple H tore his pec which basically rendered his right arm completely useless.

That happened during the early part of the match. He commented on changing his statement. “That’s something I think to myself now,” Michaels said. “Oh my goodness, I wish I’d have known that”.

Shawn actually retired in 2010, and the Crown Jewel match took place in 2018. Shawn had stated during numerous interviews that he wanted to stay retired and had no plans to come out of retirement. However, he was talked out of retirement and for him, it was a way to have a good time with his old buddies.

“For me it was fun,” said Michaels. “It was a chance for me to be with my buddies. All I can do is apologize to the guys”. Shawn also stated that he has no intentions to return to fix what he did wrong in the match.

“I think people have always been kind of confused with my peace and joy with the way I did things,” said Michaels. “And that somehow there should be something nagging at me, something left unfinished. I think it’s hard for people to not always see me as Shawn Michaels.

I see the entire picture. And I know the guy who started as a 200-pound guy that wasn’t supposed to make it. So for me, I compare that to what I did get the opportunity to do and it’s hard not to be happy about that”.
