Edge is a WWE Hall of Famer and one of the best stars in WWE right now. Edge recently spoke about not wanting to end The Undertaker’s streak when he had the opportunity once to do it in his career. The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak is legendary in the world of professional wrestling.
The Undertaker won 21 matches at WrestleMania before losing his first. Brock Lesnar was the one that ended The Undertaker’s streak.
Edge on Not Wanting to End The Undertaker's WrestleMania Streak
Edge was a very famous superstar before he fought The Undertaker at a WrestleMania event.
Edge has already fought and defeated some of WWE’s best superstars of that time, which was nearly 10 years ago. Edge had to retire due to neck injuries, but returned at the 2020 Royal Rumble and will be part of this year’s WrestleMania main event.
Edge revealed that he was asked whether he wants to be the one to end The Undertaker’s streak all those years ago. Edge stated that he was never interested in breaking The Undertaker’s streak as he didn’t need it.
“In the lead-up to it, I was asked, ‘What do you think about ending The Streak’ and I said no,” Edge said. “Adamantly no. I don’t think it ever should’ve ended until what we knew was his final WrestleMania, and then even no.
I just didn’t think it was right”. Edge went on to say that other wrestlers would actually benefit more than him to beat The Undertaker’s streak. “I also didn’t think at that point in my career I needed it,” Edge said.
“I think that that should have been saved for someone who you want to strap the rocket to and you know and you trust and is—to me, Roman Reigns was the guy to do it”. Edge then spoke about his upcoming match at WrestleMania.
Edge will fight Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania’s main event. It would be for the WWE Universal Title. Edge stated that the match is very significant for him. “When I look at it, and I take Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan and Edge out of it, and I look at it from Adam, Joe and Bryan, and what each of us has come through to be able to be in this situation is mind-boggling,” Edge said. “To me, that story is underneath, but bigger than all of it”.
