Backstage news on Roman Reigns' possible feud with The Rock

The Wrestlemania 37 Main Event met expectations with not only the winner Roman Reigns but also his opponents Edge and Daniel Bryan appreciated and praised for their work by the WWE Universe and by all wrestling fans in general.

Roman Reigns' role within the main roster is getting higher and higher and since his return to SummerSlam, the Tribal Chief has dominated anyone who got in his way. As reported by colleague Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company's goal was to give Reigns two great opponents to then protect the status of the champion and plan huge matches in the future.

Reigns' next opponent should be announced in the coming weeks, the main candidates for the match are Big E and Cesaro but hardly any of them will be able to take the title from the WWE Universal Champion. There is some news about The Rock's WWE status.

Roman Reigns is the biggest heel on WWE TV at the moment

Speaking to the microphones of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the well-known colleague Dave Meltzer took stock of the situation inherent to the title of Roman Reigns.

Here are his words specifically: "They are working on a story and a long match. At the moment the champion is Roman Reigns and the company is waiting for three possible very profitable matches, namely the clashes against one between Dwayne Johnson The Rock, John Cena or even Brock Lesnar.

For the status of Roman Reigns the WWE thinks that one of these is the only one who can really take the title from the Big Dog and maybe only later Reigns could regain the title. These are the long-term plans for the WWE Universal Championship situation."

Currently, Meltzer also reported that WWE has never thought of a possible title for Daniel Bryan while there are some situations that do not allow to see Edge as a long-term champion (even for age and perhaps physical condition).

In the coming months, still to be clarified whether in the short term or in the near future, WWE awaits the return of one of these three wrestling legends. Roman Reigns has beaten Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, Edge, Daniel Bryan, and many more top stars over the past few months and there's no telling how long he's going to carry the Universal title.

Reigns is at the top of his game currently and it's not going to be an easy task for a WWE Superstar to beat him for the belt. Roman Reigns recently reacted to the negative reaction that he received at WrestleMania 37. The Head of the Table took to Twitter to post a photo of a fan flipping him off at WrestleMania and sarcastically said that the fans missed their Tribal Chief.

It is clear as day that Reigns has embraced the WWE Universe's hate as a bad guy and is simply having fun at their expense at the moment.
