Bret Hart was recently interviewed by Sean Mooney on his "Prime Time" podcast and talked about introducing Da Man to the Hall of Fame. Here are the words of the Canadian wrestler.
On Goldberg in the Hall of Fame: "I wish Bill had never kicked me so hard in the head. I don't know how WWE offered a seat to a fighter who injured so badly. When Bill hit my head I lost $ 16 million. I signed up. for WCW for 3 years at $ 3 million a year, and two more that we had left as a second option. That football came with bad timing, and I had a lot of bad luck."
Bret Hart on Goldberg
Bill Goldberg has always been somewhat of a controversial figure in pro wrestling, with many fans, pundits and other pro wrestlers feeling Goldberg lacks the in-ring skills to be in the position that he has enjoyed throughout most of his wrestling career. In fact, one of the current WWE storylines features stars such as Dolph Ziggler and Matt Riddle openly dissing Bill Goldberg for what they perceive to be a lack of wrestling ability from the former WCW Champion, and the criticism actually led to a match between Goldberg and Ziggler at SummerSlam this year. On the other hand, there are people who feel Goldberg is justified in being a top star and WWE Hall of Famer, as he was a massive asset to WCW during the Monday Night Wars, and was a top draw in the pro wrestling business for many years.
On the other colleagues included in the ark of glory, Bret Hart added: "The ones who are super in on have never thanked any of their colleagues. They thanked Vince McMahon, Stephanie and Triple H, and I think this is a big stupid thing on their part. They should thank their colleagues who worked with them. I'm disappointed that those kids didn't thank the fighters who did everything they could to help them. Many of them don't remember the people who helped them become who they are." Bret Hart believes that had it not been for Goldberg ending his career in WCW, he wouldn't have been released from his contract. "If I hadn't got hurt when I did-- they ended my [contract]. I hung on 'til it wasn't quite a year; I hung on for 10 months and then they sacked me. But [WWE] bought out WCW and the guys that both got paid out where Goldberg and [Hulk] Hogan. They both got paid out in full in their contract what was owed to them by Ted Turner as part of the deal."
