Legendary WWE Wrestler, Kurt Angle, recently spoke about who he believes will be the next Brock Lesnar. Kurt Angle is also a WWE Hall of Famer and was known for being the only Olympic Gold Medalist to work at WWE. Kurt Angle retired nearly 2 years ago after he realized he couldn’t perform as well as he used during his prime.
Kurt Angle spoke about one of his favorite wrestlers on his podcast first. He fought a large number of wrestlers before he retired at WrestleMania 35. His last match was against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35. He stated that Chad Gable has a lot of potential.
However, he strongly believes Chad should have been given the status of the main event star, but he could never reach it.
Kurt Angle Praises Chad Gable and Gable Steveson on His Podcast
“I would say, and I wrestled him late in my career, Chad Gable,” Angle said.
“I think this kid has so much potential. I know the company started pushing him, then they laid off, then they pushed him and laid him off. I don’t know if it has to do with his size, but the guy’s amazing. In real life, he can whoop any of those wrestlers asses.
“He’s a real-life badass and to not have him go to the main event level where he deserves to be, it blows my mind. He is a very talented, great technical wrestler, former Olympian, you can’t ask for anything more than that”.
Kurt Angle then spoke about NCAA Wrestler Gable Steveson. Gable made a surprise entrance during a recent NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver event. He will be competing in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. He appeared ringside with Stephanie McMahon.
“I think he’s going to be a big star,” Angle said. “Look at his look. If he adapts to pro wrestling and picks it up like Brock Lesnar, he’s going to be exactly like Brock Lesnar. I think he needs to take the chance, whether he goes to MMA or WWE, one or the other, but he’s got to do one of them.
I think he is a future star regardless of what he does. He’s got a great look to him, great athlete”. Kurt Angle has stated during multiple interviews that he will most likely never return for one final match. He stated that he simply did not like the fact that he couldn’t perform as well as he used to.
