Stephen Farrelly, better known by the ring name Sheamus is an Irish wrestler signed to WWE, where he performs on the SmackDown roster.
During his career, he held the WWE Championship three times, the World Heavyweight Championship once, the United States Championship three times, the Raw Tag Team Championship four times (with Cesaro), and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once (with Cesaro). He also won the 2010 King of the Ring, the 2012 Royal Rumble and the 2015 Money in the Bank.
Before moving to the United States in 2006, he wrestled for many years in several federations on the European independent circuit.
Stephen Farrelly made his Irish Whip Wrestling debut in 2002 under the ring name Sheamus O'Shaunessy, but was immediately stopped with a serious neck injury that would keep him out of the ring for two years. He returned to the IWW in 2004 and after a short time won his first title, the newly created Irish Whip Wrestling International Heavyweight Championship. He then began a feud with Darren Burridge, which cost him the title in a match against D-Lo Brown. Farrelly defeated Burridge and won the feud.
During his high school years he played rugby and Gaelic football. Before becoming a wrestler he worked as a computer technician. He acted as a bodyguard for Bono of U2 and acted in a few films and shows both in Ireland and in the United States; he starred in the movie The Escapist, where he played a convict.
Outside the world of the Ring, he has had a solid friendship with colleague Drew McIntyre since the early 2000s. In 2021 he got engaged to Isabella Revilla, whom he married on October 28, 2022.
