Smackdown

WWE SmackDown, also known as Friday Night SmackDown, is an American wrestling television program produced by WWE starting on August 26, 1999 and broadcast in the United States every Friday night on the Fox broadcaster.

The opening theme of the program is Nobody Better Than Me by def rebel feat. Supreme madness.

Smack down! it first aired on April 29, 1999 as a one-episode special broadcast on UPN. The following August 26 officially debuted on UPN with the episode taped in Kansas City. Like Thunder, SmackDown! it was televised on Thursdays. The program reached peaks of popularity that prompted rival WWF World Championship Wrestling to move Thunder to Wednesdays in hopes of maintaining ratings.

From 1999 to 2005 and again from 2015 to 2016, it was generally recorded on Tuesday evenings and broadcast on Thursdays of the same week. Instead from 2005 to 2015 it was broadcast every Thursday evening. It has occasionally been taped since August 2011 on the Monday before or after the broadcast of Raw, then known as the Raw SuperShow. From July 2016 to September 2019, it aired live every Tuesday night as SmackDown Live. Since October 2020 it goes live every Friday night.

Since January 25, 2008, the broadcasts of the program have been in HD and for the occasion a new common set was created for the then three rosters (Raw, SmackDown and ECW).
