Elimination Chamber is one of the paid events held annually by WWE. In its early years, the event featured two Elimination Chamber matches as main matches: one for the WWE Championship and one for the World Heavyweight Championship.
In the 2014 edition, following the unification of the heavyweight titles, only one Elimination Chamber valid for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was held.
After a year of absence in 2016, the event returned to the calendar in 2017 in February. The 2018 edition was the first in which a women's Elimination Chamber match was held, while in the 2020 edition no world titles were up for grabs. In Germany, the event is known as No Escape to avoid associations with the gas chambers used during WWII.
