Survivor Series is one of the paid events organized annually by WWE, the second longest running among those currently proposed and one of the most important, so much so that it is commonly referred to as one of the so-called Big Four, together with Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and SummerSlam.
The name of the event and its notoriety derive from the type of main match that characterizes it, i.e. the traditional survivor series elimination match, an elimination match with eight or ten participants divided into two different teams; the 1998 and 2002 editions were the only ones not to feature this match.
Due to the difficulties in creating feuds compatible with the format of the event, the federation had initially established that the last edition of Survivor Series would take place in 2010, but subsequently decided to keep it on the calendar due to its strong historical value
