
All Elite Wrestling, also known by the acronym AEW, is an American wrestling federation based in the city of Jacksonville (Florida), founded on November 5, 2018 by entrepreneur Tony Khan and his father Shahid; wrestlers Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson and Kenny Omega are the executive vice presidents of the federation.
The first event produced by All Elite Wrestling, Double or Nothing, aired on pay-per-view on May 25, 2019, while the following October 2, the first weekly episode of AEW Dynamite was broadcast on TNT, the main show of the federation.
Officially founded on November 5, 2018 by entrepreneur Tony Khan and his father Shahid, the announcement of the birth of All Elite Wrestling took place on January 1, 2019 on the YouTube channel of brothers Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson, who at the same time claimed to be the first wrestlers to have signed for the federation along with friend Cody Rhodes.
The following week, the first AEW press conference was held at Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, where the signings of Adam Page, Britt Baker, Chris Jericho, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, PAC and Scorpio Sky were announced.
The following month the first pay-per-view in the history of the federation was confirmed, Double or Nothing, held on May 25 at the Grand Garden Arena in Paradise (Nevada). On May 15, AEW and WarnerMedia signed a contract valid for the weekly broadcast of episodes of the AEW show Dynamite, whose first episode aired the following October 2 on TNT at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC.
