AEW is on the verge of making Mariah May, formerly a rising in STARDOM, a major breakthrough. Her life has completely changed over the past year but still she was able to maneuver herself into committing with “Timeless” Toni Storm and climaxing at AE All In; an event which takes place in her home country England. At only 25 years old and five years into her wrestling career, May’s life has turned around significantly.
In her recent conversation with Denise Salcedo, it became clear that May could not believe how things can change within such a short span of time. “I feel like my life is just complete now,” May said. “I feel so settled as a person and I have my own apartment and I have this whole life I’m building for myself.” However, she still misses her family despite finding success and stability in other areas of her life. “Of course, I love my family; I miss my family so much. But I did always feel a little bit out of place living here, and I always felt quite alone because I had this dream, and it was crazy.”
Mariah May Japan Journey
She traveled from England to Japan where she performed for STARDOM,a well-known women’s wrestling promotion organization. “Even living in Japan, I will always love Japan, I would love to go back there, but even living there didn’t feel 100% right,I was very lonely,” she admitted.
However enrolling into AEW marked the turning point for both personal and professional life. The wrestler confessed about feeling at home among people who shared similar interests as hers including other wrestlers at AEW program.“I just feel like I have this amazing family at AEW with all the wrestlers and everyone backstage and all these people who truly care about you and want to see you win and want to work with you on other things,” May said. This atmosphere of warmth has been paramount for her adaptation and life satisfaction.
May’s excitement has spread from work to her personal life as she calls it her own American dream. “It’s just so nice to be around creative and like-minded people, and to be able to live in America because that was really my dream. And I did the American dream,” May said.
