The former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones wasn’t joking when he ended his 14-day retirement. The sudden reversal was a result of US President Donald Trump publicly announcing a historic UFC event, targeted to take place on 4th July 2026 at the US White House.
Initially, Dana White expressed excitement about Jon Jones unexpected return, but gradually that excitement morphed into bitter suppression, and now Dana says the odds for Jon Jones to feature in the historic card are “a billion to one”.
The lack of trust or disbelief stems from bitter past experiences. The most recent one was Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall – a potential fight that failed to crystallize because of some serious negotiation clashes.
Dana publicly disclosed how he can’t afford to let anything go wrong in a high-scale event like UFC White House.
Although, it’s worth highlighting how the former champion has reentered the testing pool and claims to have started training again. The chances of his return may be slim but aren’t non-existent.

Jon Jones’ Tweet
In a recent tweet, the GOAT reacted to Dana White’s comments on his potential UFC White House return.
Despite the odds, I’m still training and optimistic about the possibility of being part of the House event. At the end of the day, is the boss and it’s his call whether I compete that night or not. I do know was really excited about the fight, and the door hasn’t…

"Despite the odds, I’m still training and optimistic about the possibility of being part of the White House event. At the end of the day, Dana is the boss and it’s his call whether I compete that night or not. I do know Dana was really excited about the fight, and the door hasn’t been completely closed. That’s all a guy like me really needs. It sounds like another awesome goal to be inspired by. Sometimes in life, we’re not going to reach everything we set out to do and that’s okay. But I like my chances… after all, one in a billion is exactly what it took to end up as Jon ‘Bones’ Jones in the first place".
