CM Punk cost Drew McIntyre the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle in front of a Scottish crowd, interfering in his title match against Damian Priest after the two had thrown out the referee, wearing the black and white striped shirt to count to only two and then attacking the local hero in the crotch, who then suffered a finisher from the champion who thus retained the belt.

Post-show, Drew McIntyre was furious about what happened, venting to Wade Barrett at ringside, with the commentator taking full sides, stating, "That was the greatest screwjob in history, he beat Bret Hart. He's the new number one. There's a huge shadow that's been cast over this entire business because of CM Punk's actions.

CM Punk needs to be fired by WWE management. For once, show some b***h. Do what you're supposed to do. This is a guy who was given the medical all-clear to have physical contact with any wrestler. He's now materially affected the outcome of two heavyweight championship matches.

What is CM Punk doing here? He didn't have a booking for SmackDown, he didn't have a booking for the media, he didn't have a booking for Clash at the Castle. Are you trying to tell me he took a private jet to Scotland just to watch the show? He ruined this event."

Wade Barrett then added: "They should have kicked him out of the building. It's insane that he was invited to the press conference and given donuts and asked questions about football. We have a leader of this business, the leader of WWE, a man I respect, Triple H, and he comes out with these issues and says, 'I'm happy to have Phil Brooks back. This is the Phil Brooks I want to see. I'm excited and excited to work with him. Thank you CM Punk for helping change the culture behind the scenes of WWE.' I have no respect for any of that. This is bullshit. That man is evil."
