WWE fans reeled today as it was announced that Noam Dar, the reigning NXT Heritage Cup Champion has to formally relinquish his title. The bombshell was delivered by a tweet by NXT General Manager Ava on June 21, stating that Dar will not be able to defend his title this Tuesday as he has an injury.

Ava in her message told the audience that Dar would be deprived of the cup, and challenger, Lorenzo would enter the ring with a newer, unknown opponent at the time to be the new champion.

This is a big blow to Dar who has just returned to action in April after close to a year out rehabilitating a past leg injury. In his comeback match, he won the Heritage Cup by beating Lexis King to become the four-time holder of that title. There is no information regarding type or extent of this most recent injury and there remain questions regarding his recovery schedule as well as his long term outlook.
