Goldberg made wrestling history and retired after facing Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event on July 12. The former world champion put in a performance above expectations considering his age and current physical shape, saying goodbye to the crowds in Atlanta and showing his enormous talent once again.
Everything seemed perfect, until the legend from Tulsa gave a controversial interview to Ariel Helwani in which he complained about WWE's behavior towards him. In his opinion, the managers of the Stamford’s federation deliberately sabotaged his thank-you speech at the end of his retirement match and this unleashed the uncontrolled wrath of 'Da Man'.
Goldberg is retired for now
According to the latest rumors, WWE has already apologized to Bill for what happened, but the latter continue to make very harsh statements and some analysts believe that there is a precise reason behind his approach.
A legend of this business like Jim Ross said that he does not believe Goldberg's in-ring career is over yet and added that there could be some surprises in the near future. Several insiders are convinced that his top goal is to land in All Elite Wrestling in the near future.
In a recent interview with Bill Apter for 'Sportskeeda', Gage Goldberg – Bill's son – confessed that he wouldn't be shocked if his father returned to the ring in the future: "As you said, I don't wanna put words in his mouth. I can't really talk for him, but, I mean, who knows? My dad's a very spontaneous guy, so we'll see, for sure."
Gage also reflected on Bill’s retirement match: "All I do know is he really liked that match. I thought he was in great condition and everything. I mean, he could still be in wrestling shape. Who knows? But I can't say anything for if he'll have another match."
The next few weeks will certainly be decisive to better understand the future of 'Da Man', who may not have said the last word in this business yet.
