The SmackDown episode opens with the entry of Randy Orton! The Viper starts by saying that he wants to get his hands on Kevin Owens and doesn’t understand why Triple H is protecting him, so he calls the COO to ask for explanations. IT’S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME! Hunter answers that he is just doing his job, but Randy insists asking repeatedly why he is protecting the Canadian and HHH, exhausted by the complaints of his former protégé, responds that in fact he is protecting him because he does not want to risk stopping again at boxes. It’s a business matter.
The Game continues stating that he saw something different in Owens' eyes and does not want Orton suffer the consequences, but the Apex Predator still insists and adds that he did not want to talk with the COO in suit and tie Paul Levesque, but with the Cerebral Assassin who hammered his opponents in the head and would understand what he now wants to do. Randy then prays to The Game and this gives up, granting the Viper a match against Owens at Crown Jewel, but adds that now he will have to be careful because it will not try to protect him anymore.
Cody Rhodes and Gunther face to face
Cody Rhodes and Gunther reach the ring, on which already lies the absolutely not tacky belt of Crown Jewel! The Ring General steals Cody’s intro asking what they want to talk about and the American Nightmare says it seems obvious, since only one of them will have that title. Gunther accuses the Universal champion of always making everything too dramatic, last week he quoted his daughter who does not matter and wants to follow the American dream to honor his father, while he has only one simple goal and that is to prove himself as the best WWE wrestler.
Gunther replies that Cody would be nothing without the support of WWE Universe, contrary to his, but Rhodes becomes more aggressive criticizing the way the "General" of the WWE champion. START THE FIGHT! Cody is the first to attack and seems to have the upper hand, but soon Ludwig Kaiser intervenes and the numerical superiority is felt, with Cody being knocked down by a powerful WWE Champion’s Lariat. RANDY ORTON ARRIVES! Gunther and Kaiser think they can retire, and that’s it now, but what happens in Arabia?
- #1 US Contendership match: Carmelo Hayes vs Andrade, with LA Knight special guest referees. The two face each other for the seventh time and, as much as they always make spectacular matches, it starts to be a bit too much. But at least this time there is something to be won and the unknown of the special referee.
In the end Andrade tries a pin after a knee to the corner and...1...2... NO! Melo is released and unintentionally sends the Mexican against the referee. HAYES ROLLUP! Knight however does not see the attempted pinning because turned after the shot just immediately and Carmelo goes to complain. Andrade tries to take advantage of it, but he risks hitting the US Champion, then Melo does the same. SUPERKICK ON KNIGHT! Involuntary? Go get the match and judge yourself.
Melo flips the rival’s Tres Amigos and tries to pin again, but the Knight of Los Angeles drags him out of the ring and throws him at the table of commentators. Andrade doesn’t like it, he gets mad at the referee by pushing him and...BFT! AND BFT ALSO FOR HAYES! At this point Knight rings the bell and says that in the ring there are two losers, while the only winner and champion is him.
A tremendous impact
MAIN EVENT WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa vs Motor City Machine Guns. At one point Sabin avoids a dive of the tongans and Solo Sikoa doesn’t take it well, but... There is JIMMY USO! The older brother of the alleged Tribal Chief kills first Solo and then Jacob Fatu, but the two recover and turn the situation around. ROMAN REIGNS COMES IN! The 4 samoans beat each other on stage and then end up backstage, so we can get back to focusing on the match.
In the end Sabin tries to hit Tama, but this puts the referee in the middle, which ends KO. Loa goes to get the chairs, but... SOMEONE STOPS HIM! It’s JEY USO! Jey hits Tonga Loa, then gets into the ring and does the same with Tama. A couple of seats for the pair champion and...SPEAR! Jey wakes up the referee, while the MCMG lifts Tama. SKULL AND BONES!... 1...2...3! MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS ARE WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! Incredible!
